Q: My computer has stopped working. What can I do?
A: Since you are reading this you must be using someone else's computer! Make sure that your computer is plugged in at the wall and switched on. The same thing goes for the display. Make sure the mouse, keyboard and all other peripherals are properly connnected. You'd be surprised how often this is all it takes to get a computer going again.
A: It depends on what's wrong with it. We charge an inspection fee of $25+GST to find out what is wrong and estimate how much the repair will cost. Workshop servicing is charged at $80+GST per hour and the inspection fee is credited back to you. When a computer is over 6 years old, depending on make and model, it is often not economic to fix so we suggest a replacement system unit. A: A: Your computer is probably full of malware by now as your operating system is no longer getting patched. Sure, we can fix it, but we'll need to install new anti-virus software and turn Update back on. There will be a cost as we have suggested in the Q&A above, but it is probably a lot less than a new computer would be..
A: It is likely your computer has a virus. We charge $80+GST per hour to clean your PC. We may recommend installation of Trend Micro anti-virus which costs $43+GST per year. This is our preferred Internet Security System, protecting hundreds of our customers with great success.
Q: My computer seems to be working but I can't access the internet via my DSL connection. Can you help?
A: Is your phone working? Test it by plugging a regular phone into the phone jack. If you can't make a call, your connection to the telephone exchange is down. If the phone is working, use it to call us on 379 6193.
